Alec climbed out of the car as Danni opened the trunk and grabbed a handful of shopping bags filled with new sports equipment. She gathered the five bags in her hands and staggered away from the car so Alec could close the trunk. Alec ran ahead of her and opened the door to the house, wedging his foot against it and the floor. He took his cell phone from his pocket and opened it, the mechanism reporting a recent message from Caleb. Without thinking, he stood up, releasing the wood and it swung back on its hinges, crashing against Danni's forehead, creased with rage.
"DUDE!" Danni shouted, grinding the heel of her sneaker into his toe, making him cry out in pain.
"What the hell, Danni?!" Alec shrieked, dropping his phone as he stumbled backwards, his foot throbbing with agony. He stooped down and lifted the device from the floor, his fingers punching in the commands to open the message. Danni smirked as she tried to get a glimpse at the text he was about to send without dropping her bags.
"Oooh," She giggled, accusingly. "Is it your boyfriend?"
"W- What?" Alec stuttered, shutting the cellphone and sticking it into his pocket. "No, he has a girlfriend. Remember?"
"Pffft, who cares? You kissed him, didn't you?"
"That was just a one-time thing, alright?" He explained opening the door for her.
"Aw," the blonde girl pouted. "But you guys are so cute!"
"Enough," Alec hissed, pushing her through the threshold. "Take those bags to your room."
As soon as Danni disappeared around the corner, Alec pulled his phone back out and stared at the text once more, a grin forming on his face as he stood in the house.
Hey, Alec. I'm going to the amusement park today. You wanna tag along?
Sure, Alec replied. Sounds fun!
Cool. We'll pick you up in like, 10 minutes and don't forget your swimsuit.
Alec furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at the text. Who was 'we?' He shrugged and put his phone back into his pocket, walking over to Danni's room and knocking softly.
"Hey, I'm leaving for a bit," He said, cracking open the door. "You'll have to fend for yourself for dinner. Tell mom I went to the amusement park with friends."
The brown-eyed girl stood up and smirked.
"Friends, eh?" She laughed. "You mean Caleb?"
"Yeah, he's my friend."
"Well, w- whatever," Alec stammered. "It doesn't matter what you think."
He closed the door and quickly ran up to his bedroom, changing into a pair of black, plaid shorts and a white, casual t-shirt, he stuffed a towel and a pair of swim trunks into a small bag. He walked to the bathroom, flipping the lights on. Staring into the mirror, the teen ran a brush through his golden hair and quickly messed it up again.
What am I doing? Getting all "prettied up" for Caleb? No. No no no. There's no point. Alec glared at himself through the glass and scoffed, walking down the steps, toward the front door. He has a girlfriend. Get over him already.
A Cadillac pulled into the driveway, Alec's eyes widening at the beautiful, silver car. He ran out of the house but stopped short as he noticed a girl in the passenger's seat. His hazel irises met her green ones as a smile formed on the girl's lips.
Haley, Alec thought to himself. She's even more beautiful in person. Ugh.
Alec hesitantly pushed himself forward, his feet moving robotically toward the car.
"Um, hey," He whispered as he climbed into the back.
Haley turned around, tossing her black hair behind her shoulders.
"Hey!" She giggled, smiling warmly. "I'm Haley, Caleb's girlfriend!"
"Yeah, hi," The golden-haired boy answered, glumly, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm Alec."
"TO CEDAR BREEZE!" Caleb announced, dramatically, pulling out of the drive. Haley grinned and grabbed Caleb's hand, interlocking his fingers with hers.
"You're so cute," She laughed, laying her head on his shoulder. Caleb smiled at her as Alec turned his head away, a disgusted look on his face, his stomach churning with envy.
They drove in an awkward silence, relief taking over Alec as they pulled into the drive of the amusement park after what seemed like hours. Alec jumped out of the car and tapped his foot on the asphalt impatiently as Caleb opened the door for Haley. As she climbed out, the hazel-eyed teen stared at her in awe. Her black hair fell just passed the middle of her back and she was tall and curvy, but still about a head shorter than Caleb, who was already making his way to the entrance.
He paid for their tickets, despite Alec's protests, and they passed through the gates to another world. One of laughing and screaming and junk food and swimsuits, tickets and arcade games and God only knew what else. Haley spun around, staring at Caleb with wide, excited eyes, a huge smile plastered on her face.
"Let's go to the waterpark first," She giggled, bouncing happily on her heels.
"Alright, I'm in," Caleb grinned, glancing over at Alec. "Sound good?"
"Whatever works for you," Alec laughed nervously, swinging his light bag over his shoulder.
They made their way across the amusement park to the water rides. Alec and Caleb walked into the men's changing room, the two boys going into separate stalls. The golden-haired boy pulled his swim trunks out of the bag and stared at them for a moment, suddenly realizing that he was going to see Caleb in a similar pair
and nothing else. His cheeks burned at the thought as he stripped his clothes off.
"Alec?" Caleb's voice infiltrated his thoughts and he quickly pulled the suit up over his legs the rest of the way.
"You about ready?"
"Yeah, j- just a sec."
Alec quickly tied the strings on his swim trunks around his thin waist and came out of the stall, stopping short when he saw Caleb standing there in a bored manner, his muscles prominent beneath his pale skin. His plain black swim trunks sat low on his hips revealing his protruding pelvic muscles creating the prongs of a palpable V. Alec closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, processing what he had just observed. He put a hand over his mouth, resisting the urge to let out a girlish squeal, furrowing his eyebrows.
"You okay, Alec?" Caleb asked, walking up to him. "Your face is red."
"Heh, yeah," Alec's voice cracked and he coughed, staring at the ground. "Sorry," He said, lowering his voice.
let's go. Haley's probably waiting."
"She's a girl
we'll probably be waiting for her," Alec muttered, walking out of the changing room after Caleb.
"Not after how long you took," Caleb said, stifling a laugh.
"Hey guys, what took you so long?" Haley asked throwing her arms around Caleb as they walked outside.
"Blondie here took his sweet time changing." Caleb explained with a wink in Alec's direction.
"Aw, that's so cute!" Haley giggled, looking back at Alec and smiling at him.
Alec's cheeks darkened again and he glued his eyes to the ground, which was so hot; it burned the skin under his feet.
"Ow!" Caleb squealed, jumping from foot to foot, his face twisted in pain. "My poor, delicate, fencing feet!"
"Come on, Twinkle Toes," Haley laughed, pulling his arm toward the wave pool. "Don't be such a wimp!"
Alec followed behind the couple, smirking at the brunette's complaints. He blew out in relief as the water from the wave pool rose around his ankles and cooled the skin of his feet.
"You coming, boys?" Haley asked before running headfirst into the nearest wave. Alec let out a small chuckle as Caleb stood next to him, shaking his head and smiling.
"It's cold," He whined, glaring at the water, and crossing his arms over his hairless chest.
"Caleb, come on!" The black-haired girl yelled, waving her arms. Caleb shook his head, stubbornly and looked away.
"No, it's too cold!"
Haley trudged forward and gripped Caleb's waist, pushing him so he fell over her shoulder.
She lifted him with a slight struggle and ventured a few feet deeper into the pool before depositing him on the crest of a giant wave. His arms flailed as he surfaced, sputtering and laughing, splashing her, playfully. Caleb lunged forward, wrapping his arms around Haley's waist and pulling her under the water, their lips coming together just before they submerged.
Alec stood there, awkwardly, rubbing his arm with nervousness. He hadn't noticed he was glowering at a random child, until he detected the kid staring back at him, almost in tears because of his glare. He quickly averted his gaze just as Haley and Caleb shot up in front of him, each of them grabbing an arm and hauling him into the water. Alec sucked in a deep breath before the chilly liquid surrounded him. When he surfaced, he looked up in surprise at the couple laughing hysterically.
"S- Seriously?" He shivered, crossing his arms over his chest. "I- It's freezing!"
"You'll get used to it!" Haley smirked. "You're just as wimpy as Caleb."
"I- I'm not wimpy," Alec murmured, glancing at the brunette sticking his tongue out at Haley just as she looked up past him, her eyes widening.
"What are you staring at" The blonde broke off his sentence as he followed her gaze, his eyes widening.
"Oh. My. God," Haley breathed, gripping hold of Alec's arm. "Look at that lifeguard!"
"I see him," Alec grinned.
"I know right?!"
Caleb looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
he's not that hot," He stuttered, glancing back at Haley.
"Yes he is!" She grinned.
"Haley's right," Alec laughed. "He's pretty sexy."
Caleb pouted as Alec and Haley swooned over the lifeguard. He scoffed and came up behind them, putting his hands on each of their heads and dunking them under the water. The two re-surfaced, coughing, and glared at the brunette.
"What the hell?!" Alec and Haley yelled in unison. They glanced at each other and smiled before tackling Caleb into the water. Caleb squirmed out of their arms and began swimming toward the shallower water. Alec came up and swam after him, gripping the fencer's foot and pulling him back. He wrapped his arms around his waist and let his fingers dance across his abdomen.
"S- Stop!" Caleb laughed, trying to swim away, splashing the water desperately.
"Nope! This is what you get," Alec snickered and kept tickling him as Haley doubled over, laughing.
"You guys look like a gay couple," She snorted.
Alec paused and stared at Caleb, his eyes widening. The fencer quickly pushed the blonde away, his cheeks turning a bright pink.
"D- Don't say that!" He hissed at Haley, rubbing the back of his head.
"Why not? It's cute! Gay guys are hot!"
Alec stifled a laugh and let his feet fall out from under him, disappearing under the water.
"What's up with him?" Haley asked, confusion apparent on her face as Caleb just smiled.
"Nothing at all."
After going on all the water rides, the three changed back into their normal clothes and entered the main park.
"Okay, before we do anything," Caleb stopped short. "I have to take a major piss."
"Have fun with that. Don't forget to wash your hands! Public bathrooms are gross."
"Okay, I'll be sure to soak them in the toilet, babe," He snickered. "Let's hold hands when I come back."
Alec stood there, leaning against the tree and staring out into space. He was starting to have a good time and he could see why Caleb liked Haley. She was surprisingly a pretty nice girl and not like those normal, stuck up rich teens. And they seemed to like each other a lot.
The blonde looked up at Haley with his eyebrows raised.
"You seem out of it."
"Oh no, I'm fine, I was just
Haley leaned against his shoulder and looked up at him with bright, green eyes.
"Just you and Caleb. You guys are cute together."
Haley looked down, a slight blush forming on her cheeks. She moved in front of him and put her hands on his shoulders, leaning her body against his.
"This is totally hypothetical," She laughed a bit as Alec furrowed his brows in confusion. "But
be cute together?"
Her hands slid around his neck and she sifted her fingers through his hair, smiling dreamily.
"U- Um," Alec put his hands up, his stomach churning with nausea. "W- What do you mean?"
"I mean, do you think you and I would make a cute couple? I think we would."
"I- I don't think so
"You're stuttering. That means you like me? Are you nervous?"
"Yeah, I'm nervous, but not in the way you think"
"I can make it happen. We could be together and Caleb doesn't have to know."
"You don't understa"
"Shh, Alec. I do. You were acting weird earlier because you didn't like me clinging all over Caleb. You want me all to yourself."
Haley leaned forward; closing her eyes and puckering her lips, making Alec want to throw up his lunch.
"U- Uh, I'm"
The black-haired girl quickly released Alec and stepped back as Caleb stared at the two in disbelief.
"Alec! Why would you do something like that?!" Haley yelled, angrily, slapping the blonde right across the face. Alec gasped out in pain and put a hand to his cheek, his eyes widening.
"W- what?" He whispered, staggering backwards in confusion.
"Caleb, did you see that?! Alec just came onto me and he wouldn't leave me alone!"
She ran forward and wrapped her arms around him as he put his hands on her waist.
"Why'd he have to ruin our day?" She whined, hiding her face in his shirt.
"Babe," Caleb whispered, glancing at Alec.
Haley froze and her eyes widened in shock.
"H- He came onto me, I swear!" She stammered; panic edging its way into her system. "H- He's not gay."
Caleb laughed and peeled her arms off his shoulders, smiling.
"Yeah. He is. In fact
we kissed. Maybe even did more than that. Alec never came onto you. Now I know that you're only with me for the pleasure. I bet you never liked me to begin with. Well guess what? You're a slut, and we're over."
"B- But, Caleb, baby. Please. I love you! You know I do."
"I wonder how many guys you've been with since we started dating. Five? Ten? Well, that's okay, it doesn't matter now. I hope you can find your own ride home, honey. Be careful."
Caleb patted her shoulder and smiled warmly before grabbing Alec's hand, pulling him away from the devastated girl.
He released the golden-haired boy's hand after turning a corner and ducking into an alley behind one of the rides where he stopped walking. Alec stared at him, Caleb's eyes turning glossy with tears as Haley ran past the alley, calling his name.
"Hey, um," Alec began. "Are you okay?"
Caleb shook his head, his bottom lip trembling and moved forward, letting his head fall against Alec's shoulder. Alec slowly wrapped his arms around the brown-eyed boy's waist and closed his eyes.
"I'm sorry," He whispered, softly. "I didn't mean to"
"I- It's not your fault," Caleb sniffled, leaning back and wiping his eyes.
Alec put a hand under Caleb's chin and lifted his face, staring into his tear-filled eyes.
"I can treat you better than her," The blonde whispered, frowning.
"Can't you see it?"
"I- I don't know."
"One chance. That's all I want."
Alec sifted his fingers through Caleb's hair and slowly leaned towards him, his soft lips grazing Caleb's in a gentle kiss.
